k.. thanks.. yeah not sure what the springs will be, he puts his own part # on them but i'm sure they are pac or someone else...You also asked about a brand - didn't catch that. Look at the spring specs and they should recommend a retainer. I would stay with the same brand as the spring and use the recommended one. That way you know all the diameters and offsets will work with the spring.
It's so easy to over build. It's also easy to be over-impressed with the maximum torque and horsepower numbers on a chart or dyno sheet and forget about what it produces from idle to say 4000 rpm which is where you will be spending most of your time on the street.FYI I think most here know my tastes and this is what I put in the A100. To be honest I did NOT like it. Too much cam, too lumpy, made less seat of the pants power down low than my 318 with the cam that is more like what you said you have in your 318. I would never put that large of a cam in anything that I want as a nice street cruiser. Yes I could have put a higher stall converter in it (put in a 2800) but I would have hated that even more for the street.

So for 'just a street car for fun" you need a solid roller 255/259@ .050" / .619"/.618" Net Valve Lift cam? I learn something new every day.

I was thinking back to what Hughes recommended for my 408 Eddy headed 10.5:1 build. The cam was about 4 sizes smaller (hydraulic roller) @230 degrees and about 0.510 lift.well.... if you are going to have fun.. have funat the end of the day it doesn't matter.. i will do 50mph to work every day and never actually beat on it..

Nope. We won't let you. Just don't over build your stroker to the point that it's not fun to drive, and I'm not talking about the fun you have jabbing the gas and the *** end want's to catch up with the front end. Well may be I am talking about that. We build strokers for low end torque but we seem (some of us anyway) to be building a stroker for maximum horsepower at 6500+ rpm. I laugh at those builds on a dyno, the operator starts testing at 4000 rpm or so.
