can i use a short snout magnum cam in a 1989 LA360 and use mopar part p4529838 to drive the fuel pump? (this is a factory roller lifter motor) tks mopops

no. you need the long snout to fit the pump eccentric, that's just the attaching bolt.

hughes sells an extension kit if you want to use the short snoot and retain mechanical fuel pump.

You've also got to remember that Magnum cam lobes are ground for the Magnum's 1.6:1 rocker ratio, so even though it will fit and run in a roller LA with the Hughes adapter, the specs will be slightly less with the LA's 1.5:1 ratio. Just something to take into consideration when cross-breeding.

tks 4 the help

I tried the Hughes cam nose estension kit, and wasn't impressed with it... I had to make my own modifications as the "Keyway" that Hughes supplies in the kit doesn't look robust enough to me (a small piece of aluminum that looks like they took it out6 of the machine chip pile)... I went to a hardware store and got a standard keyway in that size and modified it to fit...

I had to use one on the roller cam I put in my 273 during the Covid cam blank crisis. I used like a quart of red Loctite on the bolt, along with a thin coat of JB Weld on the eccentric contact surfaces around the washer. It sure was a Jakey looking contraption when installed, but nobody here that had used one spoke ill of it.....so we will see!

Just kidding about the JB Weld.

can i use a non roller cam with roller lifters?

No.
Flat tappet cams have a slight taper to the lobes, which along with the convex face of the lifters makes the lifter rotate. The lobes are also slightly off-center from the lifter bores for the same reason.
You definitely don't want any of that with roller lifters.
