Cam Question

Just talked to the previous owner of my Swinger. I asked him if he had any of the particulars on the cam and he said it is a hemi grind purple shaft cam. Anybody familiar with this item, or maybe have the numbers on it?

You probably have the 284/.484 purple shaft. They were considered the "Hemi Grind" back in the day since those were the specs for the hydraulic Hemi cams in 70-71. I think the actual production hemi cam had a split .484/.475 lift :scratch:

That's a fun little cam, I had one of those in my old 1970 383 Challenger.
It did great 20mph smokies :twisted:

Thats the last cam I ran in my Duster before it was taken apart. The car was running 12's with that cam.

Well I likes what I'm hearing, I have yet to drive the Swinger. The plan is to #1 find a home with a big friggin shop.B. Pull the motor and trans from the Cuda, Put the Motor and trans in from the Swinger (while I work on it), not tell the boys in the car club, then go out and shock a few people, should be fun. Oh, did I mention I a house with a big friggin shop?

I had one in a 318 (360 heads) in my Demon for a while before I swapped in my 340+6. I just tore down my 340 over the last couple of months and installed that cam a couple of weeks ago. The motor goes back in to the car this weekend and will hopefully be running by X-mas. I remember it was a very lopey cam with gobs of mid torque. I didn't have squat for vacuum though.
