i have a 360 395hp crate motor with a set of engine quest heads single plane and a holley 750 hp. just curious if anyone has run a bigger cam than what came in the crate motor. the car has a 3500 stall converter. im just looking for more power

Do you like the power band it performs in now?

A larger duration cam just moves the power band up. You’ll probably gain some power but not that much.
Also, are your heads ported? That would really show up in the power department. Also extend the cams operating range a little bit.

I know that’s the expensive way, heads vs cam.

the power band is ok i guess. what im really wanting is more power. the cam thats in the engine now just seems like old technology. its only a 513 lift. the valve springs are good to 560 and in another one of my magnum engines im running 1.7 rockers same cam but total lift comes out to around 550. so i know theres more room for air flow

Unless your head flows more at higher lift, I think just adding lift isn’t going to do what you think. Say the eq head is all done at .500”. Flow is same from .500” on up. Lifting the valve higher gets you same flow, same power. Getting it open quicker or keeping it open longer should increase power. So depending on the head more lift alone may not be the answer for you.

My opinion is it's not worth changing. My tried and true is if I had to do it over again I'd be buying up all the 5.9 magnums I can get my hands on. 150-250 shot till they blow or till I get good at tuning. while its not getting sprayed it's a perfect street car engine.

find and post the flows on your EQs
try the mfg and the Stann Weiss site
what cam is in it now? all the details
more area under the curve will most always work' a faster action cam
\goining solid will work
what is your intake and headers gears weight and is this a strip only or what are trying to do here t
post the cranking compression and what fuel

The cam lift and rocker ratio has zero to do with how much a head can flow. That's all in the size and shape of the ports, bowls and valve sizes.

I only know that Cams advertised duration and IIRC, it’s 288/292. What it is @050, I’m not sure of. *I think* I read it was 230@050 intake. 236 exhaust.
Can anybody verify that?

Moparcody, a more aggressive valve lifting cam at the same duration @050 would add power in addition to more useable lift if the head can handle it.

Is this a street car?
It was asked above (?) to post gear ratio & tire size and car weight. I don’t know if you can get all the other stuff listed above. The gear and converter may allow for more cam duration. I would not want to add much at all if any.

I have no idea what it is @.050 I can’t find that info.
Mute car has 3.91s
3500 stall converter
28” tire
M1 intake 750hp
1 5/8 hooker super comp headers
Car weighs about 2800

Hear are some cams from the 318 cam stickey with similar durations to yours with some comments- you can see your current cam in the mix= in durationn an order
Racer Brown and Engle examples as the duration method is similar to your MOPAR MP cam
do you have a hyd roller currently
if so you can note that the Hyd Engle KV4 can give more lift at the same duration as the Hyd roller cam
if you already own the hyd rollers we can look ar hr cams
it does look as if there is room for improvement even at the same duration'
if you do not own Hyd roller lifters i would seriously consider some iron rockers and a solid cam
does your build have 1.6 rockers? evidently some crates did
please advise
also post your cranking compression
.050 is worthless for your comparisons to much variance in "Intensity"
ave
LIFT DURATION some have both in and ex, some have cam lift- you can figure it out
