I got a few leakers on a truck and they want bocoup bucks for replacements (ie, $150 for the choke pull oiff!!!!) Anyway, I used a water thinned caulk that I brushed on to sone doped speaker cones a while ago to reseal them and it worked great. Could you do the same to a dashpot, maybe pour in the thinned "milk" into the side opposite the vacuum source, swish it around and pour out excess? Maybe a few applications until the thing is vacuum tight? Or is it time to uncrimp them ansd just replace the diaphragm ir repair the hole with rubber cement? I'm sure there are restrorers rthat have some rtricks on vent actuators..

C'mon, no one has ever tried this? Well- guess its up to me....

Well hey, you're the guy with the good ideas!!! 150 for a pull off? MAN!!

$150? I put a new choke pull off on a QJ for $30. I would look around online, there has to be one a lot cheaper than that.

Ok, ill throw it out there.1982 maz/ford Nikki 2bbl w/3 ports on primary side. Yeah, 150 was most, wonder how many they sell? There were a few for 50C, but shipping was 22US. BS! Rubber is patcheable. Bummer, I got an NOS holley 2bbl for a slant just sitting there...

I've used RTV grey for a temporary fix on CV carb diaphragms before until the owner had the dough for a replacement, and it did work... But those are are not crimped in a can.

I'm sure it could be fixed, but I've never tried to uncrimp those cans before. Have you tried any salvage yards? I'm betting that pull-off fits more than one model of Mazda.

Rubber cement would work with a scrap of innertube if you can get in there, i put the sides of the crimp to a 60 grit flapper wheel and had it seperated in about 60 seconds, pop! The diaphragm looked like a screen door and had a small tear in the edge. Too far gone but rubber cement would fill smaller holes. When done' compress both halves in a vice and tack weld the can back together in a few spots then paint on the rtv on the edge for a good seal. I ended up finding an NOS Nikki carb (!!!) From a courier board member for a C note so im good, both mine were leaking badly from the shaft ends, i could see the butterfly through one. of the gaps, and the truck still ran pretty good with that carb, just took a high idle to keep her running and it was a bear in the mornings, the choke was set to about 2000 rpm... Bush it, rebuild em and sell both carbs.
