I need to install a spacer between manifold and carb to help stop the heat transfer. The only on that will fit my hood clearance is the wood composite 1/2in. Will this work as well as phenolic type? I can't find a 1/2 inch phenolic.

Moroso used to make a square bore heat insulator which was like 5 gaskets and 4 aluminum sheet spacers. It worked like cooling fins under the carb. I used one on my old Wagoneer under an Eddy 1406 carb. Worked like a charm. it was cheap too.

I use one produced by edelbrock.. seems to work fine! I think you can find it on their website. I also made a thin aluminum plate in roughly the same shape as the heat shield that Holley makes to mount underneath the heat spacer.
