since i got it my 64' valiant has a insanely high idle, it slows down when you shift into drive or reverse. after it warms up the choke plate doesnt appear to move. would this be choke thermostate problem? where would i start troubleshooting/replacing stuff??

thanks

disconnect the choke [after it warms up] then pin it open on the carb and see if the fast idle problem go's away.

After that Also try putting your hand over carb to see if it dies when completely cover it.

Start by fully warming up the car. Then pull off the air cleaner and see if it open or closed. Don't mess with any settings on the carb until you know what the problem is.
