I've noticed this too. There were a surprising amount of "NOS" parts for sale. One guy had a stack of AMD parts, and right beside them was a stack of the same "NOS" parts for four times more $. It looked very suspicious. I asked him if these dusty patina parts were actually repro's made to look old, and he said they were real NOS... The whole scenario just didn't seem right...

A problem with the heat is you may not notice its getting to you until its too late...

The good news is, for every crook trying to cheat you, there's 10 good, honest people that will give you a good deal. Same goes for buying online. When I see an ad that has the sentence, "Look at the pitchers".....I just keep on scrolling. I'm not gonna play Where's Waldo looking for whatever defect they are hiding when they say that.

Yeah the hobby is expensive enough without people trying to get rich off it. I do like the current availability of repro parts though it wasn't always there believe it or not there was a time you had to go to Carlisle and look for the exact part you needed and strike a deal etc. you also had to know your parts, someone would sell you a 6 cylinder manual trans dust cover and say it was for a small block a 833 etc. it wasnt necessarily their fault either if you got home and it didnt fit.
Oh I 100% love Mopars… just don’t gaf about over priced food and way overpriced parts and vendors. My fam and I went and did the whole damn thing in 5 hours. The autocross was a damn joke too… I could watch the traffic on the highway and be more entertained. At least that was at eye level from the stands.

Yeah I don’t care if I’m the minority here… it was boring AF. I’m a 44yo Gen X… telling it how I saw it from my perspective. Let’s see if Moparty is more entertaining… I’ll be there in Sept. I’m sure the food will be overpriced… but at least I can sit in the covered stands and watch the drag racing.

A man makes his own mood. A positive thinker puts aside a few inconveniences and focuses on the positives. People work for years to display their cars at Carlisle or Ohio. The quality of cars there matches the quantity.
I did not like the weather at all but I didn't let it ruin a good time. I'm used to low humidity so the muggy weather was uncomfortable. The club tent set up by Hawk Rod and Pistol Pete was GREAT ! Lots of FABO and FBBO members stopped in to cool off, get a soda or water and meet other forum members. I met several guys that I've chatted with for years....
I even met Steve Dulcich!

There is a big *** Mopar show in Texas too… at the speedway…. Again… Boring… nothing but ghettoed out chargers and challengers. Last time I went…. 8 old mopars.

Carlisle is a car show, not a race, not a track event. If you expected those things, you should have done more research.
The show in Ohio next month has drag racing. Some people really like having that at a car show.

No Mopar friends… uncle died in 2011… dad might as well be dead now. Both got me hooked on Mopar. Anyone from North Loop Dodge Performance Team left around??

I've been going to Mopar-only shows since 2001. I have always enjoyed them but it wasn't until 2012 that I REALLY enjoyed them.

I started hanging out with other Mopar people instead of just going there to buy parts and look at cars. It is the people that make it great for me, the cars are just the reason to get together.

I can see why you didn't have as good of a time if you knew nobody and expected to see cars in action but there were still some fantastic cars there. The prices on parts almost always seem to be higher than you want to spend so how could you be surprised by any of this?

Come on, man...You are far from old. In 15 years you'll look at things and think it happened yesterday and be shocked when you realize that 2020 was 20 years ago! That happens to me all the time now.
I do like to see these cars in action too. I didn't even know that Carlisle had an autocross. I would have LOVED to see vintage Mopars rippin up the course doing that. I'm a big fan of that sort of thing....
There were events where Hotchkis brought out a specially prepped '70 Challenger to give rides around the track...

You can’t see the autocross for **** from the stands they setup…. But yes they have one. You are like 40 feet (maybe more) in the air from where the Autocross is. You can literally see the highway better. I have the full RMS setup… so I was looking forward to seeing others that might have it on the course…
I won't tell you how to run your life but if you're open to a bit of advice.....
Make yourself known to some people on the forum and get to know some of them. There are some great guys here that would possibly put you in touch with the type of people you'd like to meet....Sport driving guys that appreciate road course and autocross stuff....
I've been approached at car shows by FABO and FBBO members that I've chatted with online. In Van Nuys CA this past Spring, I ran into at least 15 different people that I'd never met face to face. Put yourself out there and be available. It costs you nothing and can help you have a better time.

I admit I am a poor "people person", but when the love for a hobby, that passion, brings people together and real friendships are the result, that hobby is so very worthwhile.
Back ion the day when I went to Nats, or the few times I traveled all the way out to Carlisle, I sold parts for "wholesale" not retail, so I could pay the $ for that hard to find part! Like the time I needed the rare fresh air cleaner for a 69 440 RT Coronet. Yea different than the common 383 version. Yea even back then on those 90s $$, it was not cheap but it was still a fair price at a good retail $. I was thrilled to make my car "complete"!
Another story. Back in the early 90s, a local friends traveled form Mo. to Nats. for the first time, and his comment was " back home I see a hemi car upon occasion, but at the Nats I see them all darn day long and I get bored after awhile!"

My only issue with Carlisle was the track, specifically the stands/viewing area.
Track is definitely in a large pit.
Stand against the railings or fence, good view, sit in the stands, not so much with people standing.
Giant trees obscure all views, but provide well needed shade.
No idea how they could 'fix' the viewing issues, but it would probably take tons of $.
I hear the town has given them problems in the past, so if they ever move that may solve some issues but I'm sure there will be others to complain about.
I nice woman allowed me to take her spot for a moment to film 1 burnout so I could show the kid.

Bandimere 1/4 mile raceway in Colorado has no trees. People crowd under the little bit of shade the street lights make. The ambulances are always on standby for people who pass out or get burned by the sun. The time is coming when people will value trees more than something that you just chop down because raking leaves is too tedious.
