Carlisle?

And now, for the funny side----amateur radio version. One year a then friend and I hit the huge amateur radio "hamfest" at Puyallup, WA "early" and stayed 'til the ragged end. Same thing, people "dealers" in early were swapping parts on tables to flip stuff, but at the ragged, tired, sad ending, here are guys taking pallets of stuff back home "for next year," BUT HOWEVER, some of this stuff got moved around a bit (to disguise it's source) and THEN LEFT ON THE FLOOR FOR JUNK!!!

No idea of the attendance. THOUSANDS of people in a huge 2 story fair building.

I've seen people at local swap meets buy parts and walk across or next to their table, change the price and put them out.

If you're not there Wednesday with a list and a little red wagon you're screwed.

Took a ton of pics, some parts, cannot find all. I do know that all the 67-69 Barracuda fenders were very nice, all under $600, all sold.
There was a very nice set of bb manifolds for $1,400.

Yeah that's how the game is played. Most us guys here don't buy to flip, but for those that do, my opinion is that's their business.

Now hearing about the heat, I'm glad I did not go. Plus I really don't like staying at shows for more than two hours, then I'm bored for the rest of the day. The last all day car show I traveled a good distance to was Radwood/Lemons Hooptiecon in the south of NJ. I paid $11 for a tiny hotdog and got painful sunburn. I was cooked badly and it was a painful 3 hour ride home.

Would love to go 1 day.. it's on the other side of the world from me though
Look for cheap airfares to fly into Washington's Dulles Airport (IAD) or BWI in Baltimore. Rent a car for the weekend. The drive from Dulles is only about two hours and probably about the same from BWI. Probably alot cheaper than flying in to Harrisburg.

I put sun block on my face and any exposed skin along with wearing hat. I can be in sun all day zero sun burn none. Avoiding any sun burn is very easy to do.

The irony in this thread is 30 miles deep.

If so, express yourself. What exactly do you mean?

YES! The wife and I flew into Baltimore because the air fare was a LOT cheaper!
WE had a great time. The weather was a LOT different from what we live with in California. Heat is fine, the humidity was a shock. I can work and play out here in full sun, 90 degree, 25% humidity and barely sweat. Out in Carlisle, I was uncomfortable. I was happy to see the green grass and trees but you really pay for that beauty with all the rain and humidity.

I am 60 miles south of Carlisle in northern Maryland. So similar weather. While its common to have high humidity in this area of the country it has been quite excessive lately. In a few days we are going to be getting a major break from heat humidity. So while common its not all the time.

Yea it's been hot and humid here for the last month and a haft ... it was great up until then 70s for a month or two
Went on vacation 2 weeks ago so no time for this year ....think im going try next year
I'm under 2 hrs away but same thing a couple of hrs and seen it all ...get bored not going to waste 4hrs for the "deal" to not find anything but would go for the show and if the deal is there then maybe

I went to Carlisle once…2 years ago. it was boring AF. I won’t go back.

I don’t go to Carlisle but do go to the Nationals at Columbus. I’m not trying to make a living selling stuff, so everything is affordable. Still have people (and a well known vendor) come around on Thursday trying to buy stuff cheap. I’ll try to give a young gun a deal if possible. See everyone in August!
I used to go to Nats every year and Carlisle too far but there twice.
Last time at Nats. I had a pickup of parts, as always, get there on Thur afternoon and walk a little to see prices. For example, I had 6 sets of BB exh manifolds, and priced them a little under the competition. Sold most that Thur and the rest Fri AM. But funny thing was, on Sun. I see 95% of the comps manifoids still for sale, even the ones they bought from me!
But I was frugal. Must be why I woulds sleep in the pickup and not pay for a sorry cheap and noisy motel room there??
Glad I don't do that any more!
