Chinese cranks and their pilot hole

How many of you bought and assembled your stroker only to find that when you go to put the pilot bushing it, it's loose?

So ..you end up having to use the new style roller bearing from ram 1500 and such.

But how about that there are 3 diff bearings/part #'s to choose from, 1 that fits in the convertor snout register, and 2 that fit, I'm assuming in the loose pilot hole and being that they are thicker for the needle bearings... it kinda makes sense, but.....

who's keen on the different pilot bearings?
 
Ummmmmm, good one. I've done my own engine/4spd set up before, but had no issue with the crank since it was a stock crank.

I would guess that they, the crank maker, looked at what MOpar is useing today and not yesteryear when they do the final work on it.
 
I stopped using bushings about 10 years ago. I only use the MP Bearing that fits the crank hub now. I haven't looked at that particular part of them tho...lol. Usually there are 3 types: The MP/stock Magnum hub fitted roller; The standard size stock replacement bushing for the finish reamed hole; And a NAPA-only replacement bushing for the non-reamed factory drilled holes. As far as I am aware, the roller [pilot is for the hub-fitted unit only. It was never installed directly into the crank like other manufacturers.. But I could be wrong on that. I dont recall ever seeing an application for the bearing only unlesss it was meant to fit into the hub housing deal.
