I was wondering what is the minimum clearance for the top of the rotor to the caliper. Right now mine are at 1/4 in. I think it should be closer. Side to side i have it dialed in.

Where the pads are centered in the pad surface on the rotor is where I'd set it.
The farther the pads are to the outside of the rotor without risking them overhanging will be your best braking function.

The pad contact to the rotor is what counts, not the calipler clearance.
Exactly. As long as the pads don't hang over the edge of the rotor you're good.
