Anyone have any experience running Comps Solid roller 288R . It specs out at 288 advertised with 244 @ .050 both sides and .550 lift both sides. Comp says it is their best selling solid roller for street and strip small Mopars. Was considering this cam with .030 340 with 9.5 CR with Indy/RHS Lax heads and Air Gap intake . HS rollers 1.6 .Please advise and thanks.

Terry

What's the lash? A 1.6 rocker works to be a .586 lift.
Just make sure the head can handle the load lift.
I don't know how pushrod clearances will be though.

You can get 93 octane fuel back there right? If so I would up the compression to 10.5 and make sure you have a tight quench, say .035.

Looks like a good choice to me Terry. Easily pump gas friendly with your combo. With a top grade 3500/4000 stall converter and a 3.91ish gear+, that should be a real screamer. As rumble said, make sure the lift and springs are compatible with what you have currently.

I don't have that particular grind, but it is really close. I have the Comp XR286R in my motor, 248/254 duration .576/.582 lift (with a 1.5 rocker). With my motor (10.8:1 compression and Eddy heads), it does better than I expected. Its relatively easy on the valve train, and runs mid 10's in the 1/4 in my Barracuda.

I went w/ a 292 solid roller w/ 1.6 rockers in my 505, seems like a pussycat! 3500 convertor seems awful lose down low, but haven`t driven it much yet, still working out the basket case bugs.

Thanks for your replys. Lash is .020 both sides. Heads will be INDY/RHS cleaned up and flow 278 @ .550 (2.020/ 1.625)

Im running that exact cam in my 350ci 340, coupled with ported and polished j heads, 1.5 ratio harland sharp rollers, running roughly 10.5:1 compression. The dynamic compression is low enough to run 91 octane pump gas without a hint of detonation with lots of timing. I think you are going to need a bit more compression, with as much overlap it has it bleeds off alot of cylinder pressure down low. I ended up advancing the cam timing a few degrees to help the lower end. Here's how it sounds like, its a really docile solid roller.
