Hi I have a 74 dart sport 360 I just got all my parts I have read about the tortion bars being dangerous so I have the car up on safety stands under the front frame rails and backend on the rearend tires off so do I loosen the bolt on the lca first is that what relieves the pressure on the torsion bar thank you

Once the front suspension is hanging most of the tension is "'un-sprung" and now loosen the tension bolts.

So can I remove upper and lower control arms together or do I have to do them 1 at a time reading my Chilton's manual it says upper control arm removal I have to put a small jack stand under the lower control arm

The upper control arm rests on a lower bump-stop when at full droop.
There's still some preload in the torsion bars at this point. You can loosen the adjuster in the lower control arm to remove almost all tension.
It's still smart to keep a jack under the lower ball joint to ensure nothing drops or jumps at you when the upper ball joint disconnects.

The strut rod will need to come off first, Then I would undo the top first and let it swing down then remove the bottom. Don't forget the brake hose and tie rods. With the drum and arms your looking at about 60-70 lbs +

Dont trust the jack stands alone, most of them the bases arnt wide enough, Get some wood blocks or steel wheels under there, 2nd and 3dr supports are a life saver.
