or just Google Ubuntu. It's easy. You can download a CD / DVD image and burn a disk, or you can order a "factory" DVD for cheap. Linux is basically a "free" operating system based on Unix---on of "THE" original systems, written long before little Billy Gates was puking up pablum.

After you get your CD/ DVD burned, OR you can load and run it from a "thumb drive" you can run the system in what is known as "live" meaning that it boots up from the CD and runs, WITHOUT MAKING ANY changes to your hard drive. That way you can get a "feel" for what it does

Some of the programs on Linux you may already be familiar with---

Firefox browser, GIMP, a "photoshop" type program, "Open Office" a MS Office attempt, and some others.

There's a version of "Google Earth" for Linux, as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader

Many folks are not aware that Mac systems are "Unix based."

These are far more secure than Microsh## will ever be. I can tell you that I get involved in some pretty far "off cornered" searches, and HAVE YET to get a virus, trojan, or other nonsense while using this system

Ubuntu's homepage

The download page shows you how to burn a CD or USB "thumb"

If you decide to do this, there are several ways. You can unplug your Winehosed hard drive and leave it to one side, buy a spare HD and install Linux, or you can use the Linux tools (or Whenhoared) to shrink your Whinedoz partition and leave room for Linux, and create a "dual boot" situation.
