If an A-body car came from the factory with rubber floor mats and a floor shift console, what would be in place of the carpeted console trim pieces?

Would it have had a cardboard type of trim (like what the glovebox inserts are made of) in place of the carpet strips?

Thanks in Advance!

Rick,

Hard to believe a car would come with rubber mat and the extra cost console

I'm no expert but doubt any console would have anything but carpet. Mine being factory 4 speed had the hardboard on the driver side to cover the shifter area but carpet on top of that.

I didn't put it back on. Just covered with carpet

Wouldn't a rubber floor mat more likely be limited to column shift build ?

Rick!

Regarding 65 and 66 the only cars availible for console were the Valiant Signet, Barracuda and Dart GT. They all had carpet and rubber floor mat wasn't an option. Not sure about 67 to 69 though.

The reason I ask is that we have a local customer who seems to have an "oddity" as compared to what is usually the case....

He bought the car as a "basket case" and is trying to figure out how it originally would have come from the factory. We all know some strange things happened on the assembly lines back in the day.....
