what has anyone used when converting slant 6 to v8. I have a 65 cuda, that has the console shifter from the factory. I need a shifter cable to make this work. And also will need a kickdown cable. Will be using a 904 transmission. thanks.

Don't understand what you are trying to do. Do you want to keep the 65 floor shifter, or different shifter? What trans?

When converting to a V-8 from a slant six, you need to change the trans, also. The only cable shift trans that will fit is a late 64 or 65 V-8 trans. In 64 the trans was mostly a Pushbutton Though I think there were some Floor shifted units. The valve body is different between the floor shifted and PB shifted trans.

When using a later 904 (66-up) with the factory 65 shifter, you need the Imperial Services conversion cable and valve body conversion kit.

The best way to convert to the v-8 with the factory 65 floor sahifter, you will need to find a 65 v-8 904 trans and then order the original style cables from Imperial Services.

If you use a later model 904 trans, then you will need the "adapter kit" from Imperial Services.

its a 1982 904 transmission. Im sure others have converted using later transmissions. I may try B&M, they may have a cable set up that will work. Imperial is just too expensive.
