Console shifter lower rod

Does someone have a picture of the lower rod for a console shifter. I thought I had one but mine may actually be another front rod, fml. I have the FSM and here is the reference picture of what I'm looking for a picture of and what I think I may have.

here's the 68' plymouth book. don't know if it helps. if everything else is in place, and you put the trans and shifter in park, you should be able to make a rod the goes from "A" to "B"

My problem is my rod I think. My insert points are 90 degrees off and the picture you posted it looks like they should be 180 degrees off. The FSM picture I posted looks like it should be a straight through insert point on the lower rod.

Here is the rod picture i believe you art looking for.
I have the complete shifter going in a duster, if you need any other info.

Yep I think that's the correct one and my rod is incorrect. Damn that stinks. I have a swivel assembly and it definitely does not function properly. Now I guess I'll have to hunt down another rod... and rehook up my column for a touch longer.

Did you do get a wiring harness for the light correct?

You know i haven't tried to install the console and shifter yet but it looks like the one in the first diagram.
If you would like I'll box it up and send it to you with the adjuster to try and send it back when you find one.

When you say adjuster are you talking about the swivel assembly?

Tha is for the offer but you just keep it stored safely so you dont lose it :thumbsup:

I'll look around and find something. Maybe I'll get lucky and know a guy who has the part or knows a guy who has it lol.

Yes i have the swivel part that goes on the other end of the rod to adjust it.
It's up to you. I have a few months before I would need it back and i believe I can trust you as my FABO Brother. Anyway if push come to shove i have all the equipment and the skills to fabricate another one if i had to. Let me know if you would like me to send it.

Thanks! That really is kind of you. I think I'll be ok though, I'll look and see if I can find something to use in my box of junk or I'll ask a friend who may know someone that has one.
 
this is the perfect opportunity to acquire the tools necessary to fabricate a usable, and probably ascetically pleasing, reproduction

Classic industries sells them for 50 bucks... tools alone would probably cost double that at least.... tool and fabrication route it is! :rofl: just kidding. Shoot for what I've spent on miscellaneous crap for this stock shifter it would have probably been cheaper to buy an aftermarket one haha.

That drawing shows adjusting lever? in place of the typical adjusting block. I dont recall ever seeing that setup.
The typical rod with a flat on it for the typical adjusting blocks' screw to land on isn't so hard to make ( done it ) if you have a donor rod that already has the correct close bend end with cotter pin hole. That OEM rod was drill rod hard though. Torch required to bend it.
All you would need sent to you is a piece of coat hanger bent to correct shape with tape or other marking of length of the adjusting flat.
If you don't have a vise, a torch, and a donor rod... aftermarket has you covered, gets your money.
 
I made a lower rod for my car. Lowes had the correct size bar. I reused the adjusting block from the column shift linkage. A regular propane hand torch and patience was enough to heat the bar up to bend it. I then cut the cutter pin end off of the column linkage and welded that on. It's worked perfect for a couple years now.
 
I dont have a torch. My wife does have a hair dryer though, I'll let you know how it goes... :poke::p

me neither. i've never had a console car, just 4 speeds and column shifts
 
The link to the reproduction one I posted does fit correctly. I bought one for my car. Still need to buy a couple more to complete a few console setups I have as spares.
