Converting to a roller cam

-
Another thing, how long do the solid rollers typically last? I probably drive the car about 3k miles a year, I understand that you check the lash every once and a while, but do the rollers wear out in let's say 10k miles and need to be replaced or rebuilt?
That sounds nutz , got over 12,000 miles on a flat tappet cam , wtf is the purpose of using a roller cam if things wear so quickly ?? Does not make any sense , the whole purpose of roller cam/lifters is to have lower maintenance and longer life . put over 450,000 km on a roller cam v-6 Fraud , never had a problem .

Thats what I am thinking too, my old flat tappet cam was starting to go flat, and its nice to avoid the cam break in that a flat tappet cam needs.

I don't mind checking the lash every once and a while, but I hope they last a good amount of time. But I would guess crazy spring pressure has an effect on life, from what I am reading with the springs I need and the pressure fed roller lifters I should be good. I will ask mike about longevity when I order the lifters.

I was talking to the shop doing my heads and he told me that they should last me essentially as long as I have this motor going if the lash stays under control, but that solid cam are more demanding. One customer was running something like 1200 open pressure (not sure the seat) but they lasted only a few weekends...Well either way I am excited to get this thing together and running!

As long as you are running reasonable springs wear should not be a problem . You should get Years of use 1200 open pressure is not something you run on a street car you expect to put miles on , unless you have some alien cam materials .
Hope things go right with this engine and you get years of tire shredding fun .

Those are my thoughts as well, its fairly mild for a solid roller, and the spring pressure seems pretty reasonable, should be a blast when its all put together, cant wait to hear what it sounds like!
