ive got a duster with a 340, 4.10 gears, 3800 convertor, and i usually shift at around 7100 rpms. my question is i was wondering if i switched to around a 4500 to 4800 stall if and a guess of how much it might pick up. any one out there made a switch like that? my 340 is like others i guess, i love it and love the power but not alot of bottom end torque. just hoping a bigger convertor is the key. and also would the bigger one still be streetable? thanks

I don't know what your gain will be but I ran a T/A 8" 4200 behind my old 340. I didn't think it was bad on the street at all. It was more converter then my motor needed at the time.

I will be running it behind my new 340 which made a lot more power. Sounds a lot like yours. No torque down low and 7000rpm redlines.

Call Rick Allison at A&A trans. He will take the time to understand what you want from the car and what you do with it . His recommendation will be right on. If the higher stall unit wont benefit you , he wont try to sell you one. I love the new 8" converter I got from him( a Lupo Dynamic) vs the 9 1/2 Dynamic I had. I had just progressed to almost strip only and had "outgrown" the 3500 stall unit.
