Cool Song Remakes

-
Not quite a tribute cover but a remake with additional voices..

I have always likes this remake duet by Roy Orbison and K D Lang.

The song was released as a 45rpm single by Monument Records in July 1961 and made #1 on the United States Cashbox chart for a week on October 7, 1961, although it peaked at #2 on the rival Billboard Hot 100.

In 1987, Orbison rerecorded the song as a duet with k.d. lang as part of the soundtrack for the motion picture, Hiding Out. Their collaboration won the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. it was a substantial hit in the UK in 1992, reaching #13 on the UK Singles Chart.

In 2002, "Crying" was honored with a Grammy Hall of Fame Award. In 2004, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it #69 on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time".

A Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt,” done better by Johnny Cash i think...Johnny was well in his career and he has the voice for the song..

Oh, that reminds me - Nine Inch Nails cover of Queen's "Get Down Make Love".

Absolutely ROCKS. First digital "scratch" IIRC.

Manson was a bar band in south and central FL when I moved down. ("Cake and Sodomy" era)
I think that chick followed Brian from Miami to my area when he got kicked out of school. She was from a pretty well to do family, where no one had actually needed to hold a job in three generations. She had a photo of him and her ice skating (competitavely) when they were about 12!! She also had a 69 firebird and knew enough about it to hold her own in an argument.

What happened to her?

Man, it makes you wonder where people are, now.

I love this; In my opinion, epitomizes cover songs.

Bad Lip Reading is an outfit that takes video clips (music videos, politician speeches, sports interviews, anything is fair game) and does exactly what their name implies and dubs new vocals on everything.

This song is an original of theirs, made from clips of three different music videos.

The best part about it, though, is that Rob Crow decided to cover the song with his band, Goblin **** and turned it into a metal tune.

Rob Crow is one of those artists that makes anything fly, like Dave Grohl, only not quite in the public eye.

You have very interesting taste in music, Mr Bonds.

I'm not as spry and "in it" as I was 20-30 years ago, but I try occasionally, and I appreciate those that are.

Last I heard, her family spent most of their money, and had to downsize significantly, and she got breast implants and moved back to the Miami area.

I happen to work with a female computer tech that was also a friend of hers back in the day, although I never knew her back then. Interesting what comes around/goes around...

I'll also nominate Revolting Cocks- "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" Rod stewart cover.

...and W.A.S.P.'s version of "Easy Livin" by Uriah Heep.

aw, let;s just go for a trifecta with the Toadies covering Gary Numan's "Cars" (studio version)

...and I have to mention Gary Moore's "Shapes of Things". Quite possibly the top of my list.

Hahahaha... I haven't heard that Revolting Cocks cover in years.

Boob jobs in Fla? No way. lol

It seems like girls save for college or boobs, now.

I wasn't too saavy on Bad Lip Reading until I found that Goblin **** cover. I've been following that band for a few years, now, because I like Rob Crow and Pinback.

This is still the best thing that Bad Lip Reading has ever done, though. Not music, but if you want to laugh really hard, give this a spin;

geez...liked the remake so went to torrent it and saw these comments..kind of harsh..

Personally, I can't stand Bobaflex. I am their former webmaster, and in my hometown a 6 year old was dying of cancer (she has since passed on). The guys in Bobaflex agreed to autograph a guitar of mine and auction it with the proceeds going to the sick little girl.

Instead they just stole it, and then they got all crybaby when the local Sheriff showed up at their door.

Screw these losers, first they make RockRap albums, and then they steal from little girls dying from cancer.

That's not rock and roll. That's just being a dick.

Out of the known 305 covers of Stairway to Heaven by mostly unknowns and a few funny like Rolf Harris..remember "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" ..this one was done by heart...

I am one of those "1-man-band" guys and I'm working an an "album" of remakes from the 60's and 70's. Don't know if the link will work or not but I'll try to put up a sample. Hoping the project will be done this winter after I quit on the Duster for a while. I'll be sure to hijack FABO to let you guys know when it's complete.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=600114546668952http://
Hey man, your take on soul survivor is great! I was trying to like the video but it wouldn't let me like the video for some reason, maybe cause we aren't friends or something?

Here's a pretty rare song I have been a fan of for years.

And here's its remake. I like it better than the original cause of the liberties taken with the music. The vocals on the other hand..... Just not quite right...

Cannot believe I missed this..

Lenny Kravitz does of cover of Burton Cummings (The Guess Who) American Woman...when the Guess Who were invited to play at the White House ...because of its supposed anti-American lyrics (which they weren't) , Tricky Dick's wife, Pat Nixon asked that they not play "American Woman.
