Couple of 8 1/4 ??????'s

What gear ratio came with the different carrier? Is there any difference in the mounting of a 2 door and a 4 door???? In other words should the rear end from a four door bolt right up in a two door???? Thanks... :wave:

2.45's had a different carrier and the 4 dr rear end is the same as the 2dr.

So is the entire axle housing different or just the gear carrier??? Can I put A sure grip with 3.9 in it if it had the 2.45??? Thanks..

It is just the ring gear carrier that is different, the housings are the same. I just swapped out the 2.45's out of my '77 Cordoba for a set of 3.21's out of a '74 Dodge van and it went right in.

If you are taking a carrier out of a vehicle, 1997 and later 8 1/4's had a different (29) spline axle than the 1996 and earlier (27) spline.
