Pretty sure some members have had the converter pocket at the rear of the early crank opened to the late crank diameter. I have been trying to find a shop to do this, without success. I have tried auto machine shops, crank specialty shops, and "general" machine shops. I would prefer a shop close enough to drive to (central Florida), but at this point any referral would be appreciated. Not an issue with my 225 cranks, but different story with my 170 cranks. All but one have the small pocket. The main crank I would like to get done is my Lunati hard chrome crank. It was done by Lunati "way back when". It is stroke equalized, indexed, hard chrome standard size journals. But has the small pocket.
This is for a slant six, but same thing on a small block

I had a 170 once.

I had a local converter shop put the small hub on my converter and sent it.

Hey Charlie,
I am not sure if he does what you are looking for, but I had some crankshaft work recently done not too far from you in St. Pete I was happy with.
I would contact Steve and maybe he can help;

May be a stupid question, but is it the hard chrome that is making people say no? Doesn’t seem like a real tough thing to get done.

No. the hard chrome is just on the journals. and I did even mention that to them. I actually have two 170 cranks, and one 225 crank I want to get done. I think I might have found a shop, but it is about a 3 hr drive (each way) from me. I'll see if I get any more hits.

Another possibility is Dvorack Machine shop in Waldo Florida.
I know Dan passed away a few years ago, but here's hoping someone mopar related took it over.
