Went to see a recreation of D-day yesterday in Conneaut Ohio. It was very impressive

pretty cool! Ive hit the beach from an open landing craft, an inflatable raft and an Amtrack and far and away the boots dry Amtrack is the way to go. Sandy weapons, clothes and hands make for a very tough ingress. When they deplaned the mike boats, some soldiers went straight to the bottom 8 feet deep as they could not get boats close enough as those jacks (tank traps) in the surf had land mines strapped to them Those guys will live forever in my mind as balls of steel amphibious warriors...even if they were Army! :thankyou:

my unit Weapons Co. 1/9 was used to make this recruiting film in 1989. A few beach aasaults shown.
I can be seen in 4 scenes! Assaulting that hill took 5 takes as we kept slipping on the dirt path. I'm the last guy up, proned out when the charge goes off.

Unless you lived it you could never comprehend what they went through and we complain about trivial things
