D150 with a RV 440, just to see what it will run

-
Yeah, it’s been done more than a few times…

We’re not going to see anything like that happen with the present test, but it shows what it’s capable of when you add compression, heads, and camshaft. Gotta love that off the line torque!
Post 180... I posted my friends truck... all motor ran low 11's ... small block... It would beat that 11.98 BB. Not knock'n the truck with the 440, but just say'n....

and... he's work'n on a new small block, he's hoping for 10's. If so (and I'm there..) I will video it.

That’s no doubt pretty expensive to make a pickup go that “not as slow…”
I don't think the blue truck has been out in a bit. Like i said, building a new engine. Been bracket racing his red truck with a really cheap 360. Runs about 13.5's. He's a really good bracket racer, been doing it since the late '60's. Over 50 years ... lol

Actually, his daughter some years back was racing the blue truck. Maybe that's her name on the door still?? idk.. She doesn't race anymore that I've seen.

The problem is we all know what a built 440 will do. There are tons of examples to pull info from. NONE of us know what a stock MH440 will do. That’s why this is so interesting.
Except as Rusty pointed out, it's not really a stock motor home 440.

If i bolt on the factory cast intake and a TQ ??? Shoot, doesn't have the factory spark plug wires either... :( LOL...
That's a great idea. You have the parts already so you wouldn't have to buy any hard parts. I have some gaskets here I can send you. I think Rusty made some good points in that post even if he was just kidding. Some here might like to see what a true motor home 440 swap would do. After you are done with your current contest running it in it's mild hopped up version you could change it back to stock. Stock intake manifold, carburetor and exhaust manifolds. Everyone can guess what a true stock motor home 440 will do in the 1/4 in your truck. This test will also tell us what the simple mods you have done already did to improve your times. Most test like this happen in the reverse order but since you already have the mods done you can do it backwards. Something unique. Any changes you were planning after the original test, like for example a cam swap, would require the removal of the intake anyway. I volunteer to donate the prize for the closest guess on the true stock version 1/4 mile time. . Opportunity is knocking, better answer the door.

I don't have the time to redo the exhaust. Do I need a RV torque converter too? Also, when I go to the track, I'll likely only get 3 passes. So, I'll probably skip the intake/TQ swap. I don't think there is a benefit of my intake on this engine . If you want to call it a "mildly built" 440, then I have a mildly built 440 you can sell to your customers. Tell them "4500.00, it's mildly built"... stock cam, pistons, rods, crank, block, timing cover, still sports the 452 heads, and only one rusty cylinder... I'm sure they'll be happy ... LOL :D

Some forget or refuse to mention that it had a rusty cylinder that I had to free up a stuck piston. This isn't a TV show with a staff and hundreds of thousands of dollars backing my projects. LOL. I'm a super busy everyday guy (you wouldn't' have a clue) without a garage or hoist.

Only if you plan on dragging the RV. lol. I don't think anyone would consider the torque converter part of the engine. Transmission maybe.
tc has more to do with what it will run than the headers. You don't get headers or manifolds if you buy an engine either. Summit, Blueprint, or jasper.

It's gonna run as I listed. Ye all can call it what you want. Call it a hemi, turbo charged, or a turbo charged super six hemi... LOL

I misunderstood. I thought it came out of an RV. What did it come out of?

I wasn't expecting that you would change it at the track. I think you will have your hands full tuning in your mildly buildt combination as it is.
just so you know, a trip to the track is about 80 bucks and a day for me. Then you have to go when it's not a special event, then hope on those days that I can run that the weather doesn't stop it, such as rain. Again, this isn't TV ... I don't get to reserve the track only for me, have a crew and a financial backing, and get paid big bucks while I make passes....
