One of my favorite classes at the races.Competition eliminator cars are great to watch and I Love those small cubic inch screamers.Just once in my life I'd like a shot at one like that.

Way back I helped a neighbor with his drag car, had a .030 283 SBC, stick shift with a 3:1 first gear, 5.17's and 30" tall tires. He would launch the car and before the clutch pedal was at the top of it's travel be stabbing at it for second.....If memory is correct he launched at 8800 and shifted at 10k, went thru the lights at 11k. Was very hard on the trans, seemed like every other pass it had to be opened up and inspected for burrs on the gears...Car had a removable tunnel, only reason to be under the car was to pull the driveshaft. In the time it took him to get the bolts out of the shaft I had most of the rest of it taken care of. Fast forward a few years, bigger motor in the car, bigger tires and less gear. One pass with the glide and I was walking around the pits with the complete stick shift trans in my trusty little red wagon.....trying to sell it...
