don't know if it makes you feel any better, but i don't see anything you've done, that most of us hadn't at least once take a few days off from working on it and be careful what car repair vocabulary the kids are learning

I just took 3 days off! I'll probably just try to work on it after studying tomorrow morning.

I still dont understand the pivot shaft ordeal either, I tried 2 nuts and 3 pivot shafts and it seems like the nuts really dont want to go on them, but they are the right nuts.

I really think if I can get things to go smooth it shouldn't take to long to button everything up.

You're doing my a fine job!! The only advice I can give, is, if you have some free time. Do some searching online on what project you're gonna do. For instance installing torsion bars. That way you have an idea, so you're not moving backwards.

That's how I've approached most of my resto. I didn't know squat about squat. I just read a ton. I know it can be hard with a family and a job.

I usually try to read a bit, I even had my FSM out reading it while doing this, unfortunately I didnt see anything about installing from the rear hole. So I tried putting them on how I took them off haha. Oh well you live and learn. I'll be working on the car later today, right now I'm getting to do a 6hr study session for pathology

not home, so i can't check to be sure, but aren't those nuts "pinched" so they're lock nuts? if so, they have 3 dimples on the sides. maybe i'm thinking of the strut rod bolts

What the actual ****! I cant catch a break! Again 2 steps back!

Put the passenger side torsion bar on, but when I was taking out the strut rod I have this pain in the *** plastic piece that caught the metal washer, metal bushing sleeve and the rubber bushing and it went down in the middle of the K-Frame. Tried fishing it out and I feel like I made it worse fml.

Me too... I got my washer out with a combination of a mag-tool and a coat hanger. It took me over 30 minutes. The rubbery bushing is still in there... I was cursing up a storm when a couple of salty sailors walked past and I made them blush. I ended up stuffing a paper towel to block off that hole, cuz naturally, I tried to put them back in there. Lucky for me I had an extra bushing.

Seems like we are all suckers for punishment and experience much of the same things.

PS, it takes balls to work on these old cars, great job you’re doing, Bropar.

Yea it's kind of a weird nut, smaller in size than the other nuts but larger diameter thread hole. Idk about the dimples though

Well I have extra washers, and extra bushings but the extra bushing is old and the one I dropped is a brand new PST poly bushing, i dont want to use an old one haha.

Stuffing the hole sounds like a good idea. Excuse me for 3 minutes while I go and try to talk to the wife about that very thing... just kidding, she isnt ready for another kid

Our wives could trade stories.... my kiddos are all grown, but your youngins would certainly be well welcomed! These are the reasons I got into the car scene. And Mopes in particilapar!
Do you need a tb tool to hammer in your rods? I’m goimy to install 1.03s in a few more degrees or warm temperatures. Bigger roll bar upfront and one on the *** end too. QA1 a
Shocks too.

Heck, you're a Dentist (or a wannabee). There ought to be a dental pick you can slide down over the top, into the hole of the washer, and slide it out. Haf to laff, make sure the LCA is as far down as it will go before putting the bar into it AND that the adjuster is backed out far enough to keep bolt from falling out.

As for kids picking up vocabulary: Auto shops are second class places to pick up a salty (not parent friendly) vocabulary. The winner in my book is any challenging golf course. Not only did I pick up vocabulary, I also learned the useful skill of how to avoid flying clubs and balls.

The 1.03 torsion bars sound nice, but not in the plans yet. Need to finish all this stuff first and at my rate my kids will be all grown like yours when it's running again

I think I'll be able to get the Tb in without a tool, hopefully... or I guess if I brake them the 1.03 bars will be in my plans.

Didnt do anything today on the car (still studying) but I did get a package in the mail from PST. Nope it wasnt the bushing replacement I ordered the mounting bracket for the rear sway bar though. The brackets that mount to the body of the car and the sway bar links attach to them. I didnt have them so I couldn't install it. Now I just need 2 U-bolts and I'll be able to install the rear sway bar.

Passed my pathology exam! Whoop whoop!

Today I worked on the car. Got the passenger side all buttoned up. Only problem with the passenger side is that bolt on the caliper mount stripped back out. I'm going to have to try something new with it (maybe like mentioned before in that hole)

Put the new hard line on from the prop valve to the drivers side caliper. The bolt on the prop valve goes into the bolt hole where the old distribution block was but it doesn't screw in like the nut from the distribution block did.

The drivers side is going to be the death of me! That stupid pivot shaft I is all fucked up again. I changed the shaft, and changed the nut and it's doing the same thing, the nut is stuck on there and is just pulling the pivot shaft with the bushing out of the control arm when I try to loosen it and when I try to tighten it the bushing spins back in but the nut doesn't move.

I dont want to buy new pivot shafts and distribution block so I need to figure out a fix for it.

I also got the bushing and spacer out of the K-Frame!

Thinking of getting these Ubolts to install my rear sway bar. I only need 2 and unfortunately no where close by me has any 3in × 7in ubolts. Ace hardware has some 3x6in ubolts but they are square and like grade 3 hardware, so I dont think they will fit.

Also got some of these helicoils for that caliper bracket.

Northern Tool, and Tractor Supply have U bolts for trailer axles. If either of those places have stores in Vegas, you might check there. I agree with the little kid in the pics!

We have a bolt store here in town,I'll probably try there tomorrow.

Put helicoil in the bracket and tightened that sucker down, it's not going anywhere.

Everything on just getting the pivot bolt a little tighter and then we are good to bleed the brakes, I may move the proportioning valve and try to get it seated a little better.

New sway bar installed its starting to actually look like the front of a car under here.

Nut is all the way tight, luckily for an air impact gun!

I also am trading my stock distribuion block for a stock proportioning valve! So it will be so much better mounting it and will go in the stock location!

I need to bleed the brakes today and then we are good to go and get a slurpee!

Opened my garage when I got home and smelled a bunch of gear oil... yay me. My rear end is leaking gear oil. I torqued everything to spec so I dont know why it would be leaking. I tightened the bolts more and it's still leaking. Sucks that not only is it leaking but I also lose out on 2 qts of gear oil.

1 step forward with 3 steps back all the time.

find a place close by that does axle / suspension repairs on trucks. they should be able to make you a set while you wait. take your old one and tell them how much longer you need them.
