I need to replace my dash pad. I havent found any vendors that sell these new. Is the 66 Dart dash a one year only part? What other models used the same pad? Is there anyone out here that does a repair recover? I have read a few posts about do it yourself vinyl replacement and will probably try that if I cant find a better solution. ALl the ones I see advertised for sale have cracks like mine so that doesnt seem to be the answer. Appreciate any help you can send my way.

Thanks
Rodney

About the only fix is to buy the dash cap, trim the old foam on the core and paint the cap. That is what I have to do, no rebuilt ones out there.

Hey Rod, I believe 64,5,and 6 are the same but I don't have part numbers for all those years.

I think that is correct as well. The 64-66 Plymouth pads are shaped differently but can be installed the same as Dart pads. Contact 65dartcharger - he has several different colors that he may be selling.

I looked and didn't see anything I likes as well. so I recovered mine in Tan to match my off color on my interior I ended up cutting/trimming the rolled up ends of the cracked vinyl and using the spray foam for cracks (home use) filled it in. then sanded it down with a fine rolock disk to level the surface. then used super glue to seal the surface so I could level it even better. I had cracks up to 3/8th in wide that I filled. here's the pic's. now on this one I used 1/8 inch foam to give it more cushion and hide the cracks that did show faintly through the thing vinyl. the other one was done without the added 1/8th inch padding and came out looking like the same as the original. a heatgun is your friend!

Nice work!

Thanks. now the problem is I just got my new convertible top (they only had it in buckskin not the color I wanted. I checked 4 suppliers #$@%$#%@) in and found out that the color of the interior Tan is WAYYYYYYY off from the top. Now I have to remove the vinyl find the correct color vinyl to match the top ohh and paint too! reshoot the dash, vents, sides of the door, rear seat sides and the darn steering wheel/tube! ARGHHHH:banghead: luckily I have to take most of that out to cut the firewall to get my factory a/c installed. (Thanks to 65dartman and Waggin for their help with templates!)

Another 1 step forward and 2 back!:protest:

I'll see if I can remember to take more pictures of the process of my recovering when I do the re-viynyl or I misgh try to SEM dye the spare one (But it is in really bad shape,as in 1/2 the vinyl missing.)

I know what you mean about not matching. You may be more anal than I am, but I took the route of just forgetting about it over the winter, and coming back and looking at it, and realizing that the 3 tans I had blended together OK. That being said, I have a 64 dart with 77 Aspen seats in it, so originality and matching is not my goal with this particular project.

Original me? not likely I like my creature comforts too much. I have a 97 sebring complete front bucket power seat and rear seat from the same vehicle in the car, power front and rear windows, custom console getting ready to be made(gotta have my cup holders for long trips and phone charger)custom made led tail lights and front turn signals. I just want to be 2 (3 if you count the dark brown carpet!) colors really the seats won't match the top but I know it's supposed to be different. the dash and steering wheel would look better to me the same shade as the top. since I'm going to make a custom boot that matches the top. (rear seat's way different than the stock rear seat) oh and factory A/C in a non A/C car. 4 colors of brown are pushin it for me:D
