okay so I am looking for the paint codes to bring my 66' back to factory color. I turn to the fender tag and nobody can mix me paint based on the color codes on the tag. (See my other current post on this forum)
So I am poking around and discover on the web page: www.earlycuda.org a page that gives fender tag decoding for 64-65 and then scrolling down a bit further 1966. They did a beautiful job with the codes and laying out the whole tag picture. (I am talking about the page at the bottom is listed for the Early Valient and Barracuda website).

So I decoded my tag and ran into a few issues. Now I know my little wonder is special: it came silver with red interior - no biggie but it was a 225 /6 with a center console and stripes originally. Special to me. Any how, I run the tag and it tells me going by the bottom line on the tag:

32800218- March 28, 1966 built and by the sequence # I'm picturing later in the day. Car number 218 in line for that day. I would like to know how many were built that dAy.

Body- BP29 Barracuda

Trim- P4H. Vinyl and cloth buckets

Paint- AA4PP. There is no color AA4. And first P is red interior and second color for roof stripe is red- no red roof stripe code either. This must be a mistake.

Any one can help me with the two issues?
What is the AA4 paint color as it was originally silver? Is this a typo from the factory?
The factory stripe was red- I found it under the gasket for the front and rear windows. Is P correct and just not on that page on the early cuda.org website?

Thank you,
Joe

I'm not at home so I can't exactly pinpoint the color in the book, but A4 is Buffed Silver! I'll check the book when I get home tonight!

AA1 is silver poly. I am not sure of the quality, but if you check TCP Global they have an auto paint library where you can pull up the year and manufacturer. It has a paint chart you can check. I haven't used their product, but prices aren't bad. I have a friend who used the paint and said it worked well with his project.
They have the paint in
Acrylic enamel
Acrylic urethane
Urethane basecoat
Low VOC Urethane basecoat.
I have some of the paint, but haven't had time to try it
Good Luck with your project

Another way you might try is to take a piece of the car you would like to match to the paint store and have them match that. I took a piece from the interior of mine, mine is gold on gold
If you have any small parts you could carry with you. I forgot your interior was red.
I was hoping someone would give you some more information as well.
Maybe today someone will help out today.

P = Roof (A) silver metallic
A = Body (A) silver metallic
I = Paint/ style stripes (4) buffed paint
N = Applique/stripe (P) red
T = Upper door frame (P) red

Thanks again tool man Mike for your help.
Slowly I am gathering enough info to write a small book about this car. Not that I am going to as I have put 3,000 miles on her since I bought her is 1989. There is a lot of documentation out there now to bring it all to one place.... It probably already exists I just have not found it yet.
Thank you again,
Joe
