The idea is not bad, but the way he has it set up in the photo is sure not the way to be accurate. He bought a pick SET, why not use a 90 pick then it might have "done" something?

Also, I learned early on in life about parallax, back then good quality electrical meters had mirrored scales, so you could get rid of that error
