Deltatech's 1973 Plymouth Duster

-
I'm making an oil pump primer out of an old dzzy housing and the shaft off a paint stir attachment for a drill.
I cut the housing and will find a bearing later that fits.

After looking over the cheap electric gauges that came with the engine run stand from Larin, I've decided to use a set of Equus mechanical I had already bought a few years ago to install in my Duster.
The mechanical will be easier to wire and probably more reliable and accurate.

if you have any under the dash wiring assemblies, these are good to replace under the hood pieces. they have not been subjected to the high heat of under the hood. that is how my Dart was redone.
THAT is a GREAT idea, thanks!

So after looking at the harness I figured out that one can shove a flat piece in beside the tab and just pull out the wires whole.
SO of course I spent some time and pulled out 25 or 30 for slavage.

I haven't posted for a few days and doing a little catchup.
I got a 40 gallon tote that will fit an entire smallblock for electrolysis rust removal and plating.

This is the parts for an electric rust removal setup.
*rebar
*battery pack with built in chrager
*super washing powder (not baking soda)
*plenty of wire
*40 gallon tote (or whichever size fits your part submerged)
*a strip of wood across the top of the tote to hang parts from
That's all that's needed

I hooked up my old Linux PC ,a 42 inch tv/monitor and celphone in the garage today.
I'm not sure if I like where the tv is yet, may move it.
I've started using my old celphone to take pics and upload straight from the garage instead of having to go into my office area.
I also got the Equus Guages for the engine run stand.

All that looks really nice and well thought out though. I wish I had your organizational skills. Heck, I wish I had any organizational skills. Mine suck.

I got a bit of wire slavaged and am now starting to wire the run stand.
I have a brand new battery for my Ramcharger that I'll use temporarily for the run stand.
I like how the Equus guages look like Autometer Autolights but for a fraction of the cost.

I spend a LOT of time thinking about the next project while I'm on the current one. I'm usually 2 projects ahead in my mind. Sometimes I'll take a week(like last week) to organize.
I bet you know exactly where everything is in your own shop.

I do but it still looks like infected dog butt.

for all the work you've done redoing this, you could have built one your way.
( I mean that in a good way and not saying you did this wrong)

I had a major setback today in finding that I was sent the wrong oil pan and the pickup wont fit.
Here goes another $300 for an oil pan an pickup tube...;

Better pics of the pan they sent. Doesn't the 893 have a divot in the spot i marked in the second picture? This pan is close to the 893 but I don't know if it will work. The sump is shorter on this pan as well.

If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have bought it. I would have just bought 2x4 square steel and added legs to an engine cradle.
Basicly, all I got for $500 was the frame and bolts which may have saved about 2 hours of labor.
The reviews stated the wheels fold, gauges and sending units are often bad and it is rickety unless the frame is welded solid.
Unfortunately, It's too late to back out now, I just have to see it to completion.

I'm currently trying to decide between the 893 A body pan and the Hemi 587 pan.
I replaced the pitman and centerlink with stock 73' smallblock v8(not the 3/4 dropped center that 440 source now has available.) when I swapped to the smallblock.
I'm wondering if I'll have to change them out for big block parts with the 893 pan or will the 587 pan fit with the smallblock steering?.

I re-ordered the 893 pan and pickup, I can't return this one since it had sit on my shelf for the 18 months that I waited on the block to be machined.
I'm not even sure where this pan came from but I don't have an 893 anywhere in my garage.
I can't find the pickup that I ordered with the 893 pan either.

This isn't the 893 that I ordered. This looks like a B or E body pan. Can anyone identify it?

Maybe this helps...

Here's a 402 in mine now. CL rubs the bottom.....

This ain't rocker science It's been all over the net forever. The two best (and affordable) pans to use are the 699 and the 187. The 893 is the factory big block pan number and most people think they're worth their weight full of oil in gold. They don't realize 440 Source sells nice reproductions, complete with the 893 stamping for 179 bucks. And that's an accurate reproduction right down to its 6 quart capacity.

Here's the 440 Source 893 pan.
