For a1974 dodge dart sport 360.
Does the dipstick tube have a gromet going to the block.
I got a good size leak and trying to find out what else could be leaking besides the oil pan gasket. Thanks

I believe there is an O ring. Was on my 72. May want to check shifter shaft seals too.

Good luck,
Pat

my mopar chrome replacement one had no grommet, i actually had to grind it down a bit to fit in block, oem may differ though

in my have a crack in the tubing, near the base.
^^^this.
Just pulled a tube out of a parts engine, was cracked 3/4 of the way around. Explains why block was so grimy. And no wear on crank.

No grommet or o-ring on the dipstick tube... It's press fit metal into metal...

Put a little dap of ultra grey or black on it and press it into the block. Wipe off any excess. Leak free!!!!

Best way to install a new one is to freeze it overnight in the fridge. It will slip right in then warm and expand.

Same deal for bearings but the opposite. Warm them in the oven and cool the other piece and they drop right on your pinion or such. Pressing things in or on is not always needed!
