Disc Brake Master Cylinder ID

I've got a several disc brake master cylinders - one with the retaining wire that holds the cover down and several with the the bolt and/or bolt with clamp to hold the cover down. I say disc brake MC as they all have the larger front and small rear reservoirs. I found my Mopar Action issue that had a master cylinder ID article several years ago - they were heavy on B/E master cylinder info but really lacking on the A Body stuff. Any way to id these so I can get the correct rebuild kits?

About the only thing I can think of to do is measure the bore. The bore diameter determines the kit you need. You may need to remove the piston retainer on the pushrod end to do this. My master has the small reservoir on the front and the large reservoir to the rear.

this is the 73-up disc master cyl. for an a-body..

Unless you already have all the hones for the various bore diameters, etc.., atempting to rebuild master cylinders is a waste of time and money.
A kit alone will cost nearly the same as aftermarket reman'd.

You know, I just picked up a 71 swinger 6 cyl. car with 4 wheel drum and the master cylinder looks to be a disc MC as it has the larger resevoir, but it is and obviously always has been a drum car. I'm with RedFish though, you can get them reman'd easily, why take the time and money to rebuild an old one. Just my 2 cents!!! Geof

I just went and bought one from auto parts store and it was only $35.
