disc brake swap turn full resto

$12 flasher relay fixed the problem and everything is back to working condition. Next is the headlight upgrade with 2 spst relays. I already have everything to do the upgrade including a box that will mount under the battery tray.

The Valiant parked next to Joes 71 Duster
Took the Valiant to its first shows since its rebuild. We went to hot rods and Harleys on 40th Ave then went to Selah community days. Even though the weather was crappy the turn out was nice and the Valiant got a lot of attention from all ages. Everyone seemed to like it and I could tell from 15ft away one chick in her 20s checked it out and said I like that to her boyfriend. Everyone said the same thing about the /6 "its a good little motor.

Now the bad (not the valiant it performed flawlessly). Joe was hot roding his 71 duster with a 408 stroker and A833 4 speed. While grabbing gears and hammering down he managed to pull the shoes out of his rag joint..... he managed to keep it under control and we pulled it all apart in the dark in our buddies driveway.

So a little update. I picked up an aluminum super six intake and exhaust that came off a pu. Its the less desired 2 piece intake but my boss is going to media blast it, then a Co worker is going to weld the egr port closed, then another Co worker is going to powder coat it. The plan is to Turbo charger it using a Garrett GT28 Turbo that my other Co worker is going to donate to the cause. Now I searching for a good Holley 350.

Things have been going really so lately with working on my Valiant, Justins Dart, Dans mustang, and my wives truck. Then on top of that ive been pulling alot of OT and looking at houses to buy. I had a bit of spare time so Justing and I went junkyard hopping (looking for a kickdown cable off a magnum equiped vehicle for the 2 barrel upgrade) and what do I find but the western wheels that ive always found interesting. We picked them up $100 for the 4. My plan is to have my boss blast them clean and then have a co worker powercoat the center but having decided on a color yet. Im think either argent silver, magnesium, or black all with the polished lip.

HOLY SH*T! This thing is beautiful! I have to admit, its inspiring to me based on what you had to deal with regarding rust. My 69 wasnt nearly that rough, and it too is a pacific northwest car. (Spokane primarily)
I have all my metal work done and now I have to do the body work. I have hesitant to even get started because body work isnt my "thing", but I cant afford a shop to finish it so...

Whats really great to me in particular is your color choice. I have been hoping to stumble across another Valiant with this color, because its what I was planning as well. I wasnt sure how it would look. I love it!!! Look great with the body lines of the car.
I have a "Duster 340" hood scoop, and plan to do a satin black hood as well. I may very well do some satin black stripes across the rear as well.
Anyhow, congrats on bringing this car to this level! It looks great man! And again, it has made me realize that my fairly strait little Valiant should be no problem compared to some of the work you had n this one...
Great job to you and your friends!

Dennday... Hope ya dont mind! Since you had the basis for my car (paint and body) spot on, I "edited" it to look how I plan to paint the Valiant. Mine sits a little lower as well, so I lowered it too! HAH Whatcha think?

Thanks for the compliments and it was a bit more work than I had originally expected. I don't mind the photo editing at all if it helps you in your build. The stripe and blacked out Hood treatment does look good on these cars in my opinion. I have a spare 67 Hood and if I ever decide to try a scoop it will be blacked out.

Nice find,on the wheels! Love a basic metallic grey("Gun metal" variations, my favorite).

Hey man, you have any other good pics of the car? Id love to play around a bit more with paint schemes. I am taking my Valiant this weekend to get paint work done. :)

Sorry I don't. All pics I have I put up on the site. I'd take more photos for you but the cars still put away for winter.

Dennday, I looked and didn't see the paint code you used for the color. That beast is dead sexy

I don't have the paint code number off hand. Its 2011 Dodge pdm mineral grey metallic same as the Dodge ram in the back ground as the photos. Its really lightened up a few days later. I also like the new metallic grey that Toyota has. Its a little bit darker.

I know its been a very long time since ive posted anything but great news is finally after looking for 2 years she finally has a home of her own. The 2 car garage is a little smaller than I wanted but I will make good use of the space. We are still working on the paint and body on Justins 69 Dart but its coming along. lots of fab work, new bulge hood, flip top gas cap, new quarters and hes going to be putting a 440/727 out of a motor home in it. This winter we might get started on doing a turbo /6 in the Valiant.

So the last two days I installed 2 3.5" speakers in the dash, redid my stereo wiring, upgraded my volt gauge by going off my original stereo wires to switch a spst relay that pulls power off a fused 12 gauge wire from the battery, the old stereo wire that powered the lights now powers the gauge lights, fixed my glove box door so it now opens easier, installed an under the dash antenna for the stereo since I shaved the one off the fender, and upgraded my headlights using two spst relays mounted in a sealed box that is mounted under the battery tray and 14 gauge wires. Sorry no pics as I was too much in the moment. I also finished looming all my wires using the f6 loom I bought off ebay to clean up the mess.

Just got done going thru your posts and I love the way your car came out. Great looking in that color. Jim

Thanks jim. I've got quite a bit more to go. I have a 71 360/727/8.75 that I would like to put in a 71 scamp and build a factory "what if" car.

I've got a 380 HP 360 mag going in mine this winter. Gonna keep the 904 and mine already has the 8 3/4 in it, just gotta add a sure-grip and a bit steeper gears to it. Good Luck on your plans.Jim

My b body 8 3/4 has 2.76 gears with the sure grip. Great setup for a turbo build.

So with me being on night this month and bored I decided to check the rockers and sure enough the intakes were too tight and exhausts were too loose. Last time I did it running and up to temp. This time cold and not running. My buddy came over and we took the valiant out for a spin. Running some curvy back roads doing about 50mpg. Almost no body flex and alot more power. Next weekend I'm going to ditch the holley 1945 and try installing the holley 350 with the lokar throttle and kickdown cables. The holley 1945 runs great but I'm looking for a bit more power and then later maybe install a turbo.

Started on the 2 barrel upgrade last night.

Got it cleaned and prepped in a few short hours.

The slightly modified aluminium 2 barrel intake.

The holley 350 with the simple aluminium angle bracket for the lokar throttle and kickdown.
Still need to adjust all of that.

All installed and ready to fire. Had to address a small fuel leak coming out of the fitting, but once she fired she sounded strong.

Yup shes running a bit rich.

Wow its been over 3 years since I started this build and have been busy working on a 65 Impala for a co worker lately. I decided to Valiant some time and attention. Had to do a bit of fab work to get the Holley 350 to work like I wanted and a little cosmetics with the help of an adapter from a forabodiesonly member.

Thanks! The holley 350 on the slant six is alot of fun to drive. Still thinking of putting a turbo on it now that I know the carb is good.
