Do i need a adjustable pinion snubber?

Looking for some input here. Im currently buding a 70 swinger, and will be building a motor soon. Looking at around 400-450hp at the motor. Im going to be adding frame connectors shortly. Rear axle is 8 3/4 with new espo 1" above stock ride height springs. This is pretty much just a street car, may see the strip once a year at most. Should i order an adjustable pinion snubber? If so will the floor need to be reinforced before i reassemble the interior? Reinforce from inside or outside? thanks in advance

need? nope. Best answer seems to be - get one and try it. Some here like 'em - some here don't. You went higher on the rear suspension? If you're after traction then you'll want to go lower to aid weight transfer..

a street car (under 500 HP) w/ an automatic.....no need what so ever

Thanks guys, that should save me a few bucks. Car is an automatic and defineltly wont be over 500hp. As for tires im only planning on running the widest street tire possible under the car without rubbing. I went with the 1+ ride height for the stance.

I love my pinion snubber. I agree with above, on a manual all the energy gets released at once. hard to do a 4k hole shot in a auto lol

Probably not.

I took mine out. Speed bumps were killing the floor. Not to mention my kidneys.

Besides, by itself, it is not the be-all traction device. With soft springs (non-SSers) and street tires, you can hardly tell it it's in there. At least that was my experience. If the tires don't bite, the axle doesn't wrap, and the pinion doesn't rise enough, so you are just carrying dead weight around. And even street 295s just don't have a lot of bite;on the street. The BFGs go hard after the first summer,and then will last for many years/thousands of miles, with all kinds of abuse. The Coopers aren't much better, but in a side-by-side test, I think they might win. Haven't tried any others,yet. But there's not a lot of 295/50-15s out there. Last time I checked there were just these two.

If you were to start hooking up, yeah you probably will need one. On a BB bracket car I was running with 002/003 SS springs. It would hook so hard that the SS springs would wrap up enough that it was bending the shocks where they run behind the housing. Snubber cured it.

Love em, squats about a inch and takes off like a rocket, 4k hole shot with 275 radials and about only 15 feet of spin and no axle hop

Don't waste your time or money.

It takes 2 min to install/remove and you can find new ones for $40 or less on this site or ebag. If youre not sure there aint no harm in picking one up to play with.
