So I picked up a 68 Dart grill from a member here last week. I have 2 68 Darts and wanted to have a spare grill for that day you hope never comes and need a replacement.

I found a do it yourself link on line and made my own galvanizing eletroplate set up. I sandblasted the pieces then submerged and plated. This is how they came out. The last pic I gave just the socket housing a light brushing with a soft brass brush.

Low DC voltage if you read article. You could stick your hand in it but I wouldn't.

  • Several DC power supplies. I use a 6V 1A power supply from an old network router I had laying around, as well as a 5V 300mA power supply from an old rechargeable tool. The voltage does not matter; you are only concerned with the current output. I discovered a battery charger provides too much current for small parts.

Nice, something I've always wanted to do. That is Zinc plating though, not galvanizing...

Yes Zinc plating which is a form of galvanising just not molten hot dipped. Really good for trunk and hood latches , linkages ect:

Galvanisation is when a protective zinc coating is applied to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. ... This is when metal parts are fully submerged in a bath of molten zinc. Zinc plating (also known as electro-galvanising) is a process where zinc is applied by using a current of electricity.Mar 17, 2020

Did one side of my spring brackets. Can't do the other until I actually change the springs (still on car) . Had one side cause one side set on the car is really rusted.
