don't know what forum to put it
not really, a restoration, but am going to race it
Heck it's not even an "A" body
should I just take it to ("for Trucks only") > slow there

any interest in the build ?

Was my parts chaser for many years,
was such a great little hauler.

until the uni body split, fuel tank started leaking
was only one way to fix it,

put a real frame under it

and triple the horse power, plus some

I like the build.. I also have a oddball toy (D50) that is not a A-body. It is not tube chassis though and small block.

That is one sexy cage.

I think your gonna surprise some folks with that.

Why run exhaust through the cab?

I like it.

Ben- I think i can keep your interest- it runs on alcohol.. lol

D-50394- Thanks >I had a 340, D-50 and a 340 plymouth Arrow, back in the day > lost to a divorce

bOb shingler- once the sheet metal is finished, Driver will be isolated from eng/ and exhaust.
Being i work in the aircraft salvage, think ****-pit, passenger side is wide open

ScampMike0 - I grew to during the "Dare to be Different" campaign

Cope- the truck sits to low, for any header, plus I have never liked wrapping an engine with header pipe, making it hard to change starter, or pull trans, or oil pan

i feel the project is safer than
the Slingshots (front engine dragsters),, where the driver draped his legs over the rear end housing, with balls hangin directly behind the ring gear
rear wheels smokin, just a shoulder away

That exhaust is crazy wild! That's some creative fabricating right there! No problems with the tech inspection with that? I'm fascinated by that exhaust - got anymore pics of it?

It's still under construction, getting ready for sheet metal (interior) work > see rolls in background

I will add 45* to the collectors/reducers to 3"
they are currently 4"
Then continue to the rear (straight out the back)
just over the top of the tail gate

changing plugs is easy...

There is more room for the driver than appears as the seat is moved back 14" ( rear glass and rear of cab removed, will be rebuilt 14" back)
and is also the reason to have to run the camper topper

Where the 1" tube is placed is where a firewall will be built
(see where i laid a temp metal plate) it will become 1/2 sheet metal,
up to that bar
the upper 1/2 will be lexan
Got the idea from, the outlaw dirt track cars
so that from the passenger's side, the trans and drive line can be serviced

from the rear view the headers look tall, but with the fenders and hood on, only a few tubes show

That hood I made in 96 , when it was still a parts chaser
6"
but had AAR make me a fiberglass 3" (looks better)

moving forward slowly
kind of like playing "Chess"
make a move> locate and position a part
then see, what's in the way

got the brake pedal, gas, steering to share some space
moved the gear shift, got mounts made
built the drive shaft tunnel > stainless steel
Trans cooler got its own space> plenty of air
exhaust is headed in the right direction

got some poster boards to make templates for the interior sheet metal

I hope you don't regret the decision on the exhaust routing.

Sure wish I had fab skills like ours. Keep us posted!!

Thanks,

The passenger side will be open to the air,
should keep things cool
If I have to wrap some of it I will
I want to be able to remove valve covers, oil pan, spark plugs, trans or starter, with out headers in the way

Even using the gear reduction starter...lol

I don't understand the header position either But that is your decision. It being tube chassis you should have plenty of room for at least fenderwell headers and have room for the removal of the things you listed.
Also can't wait to see it finished.

I had fenderwell headers , then funny car type headers,
When It was a Daytona body,
But would catch the grass on fire
every time I started it...lol

So, when I was making header changes
The Rampage uni body was dead, So then Scrapped the Daytona, put the Rampage body on...

Sure would be interesting to see and hear an 8 into 1 collector on those pipes.

working on it as I have time

Raised the body up
so I can slide the floor into the roll cage> in one piece

finished inspecting the rear
ready to re install

001_zpso3baj9qm.jpg

The Rampage is finally at the front of the line.
got the braided lines made/ installed for the fuel and trans
cooling system in finished
electrical done, except head and tail /brake lights( NO turn signals...lol)

Today(rainy day project) will re-make/ modify frontend supports for the front clip > Radiator demanded some of that real estate. due to radiator height, and steering rack in the way
will also get the Shelby ground effects secured to the fenders

as for the headers, that was a item that slowed me down > ground clearance is 3 1/2" at front (1st pic)
mid plate/ firewall blocks going toward the rear.
only other direction is up and over toward the passenger side.
second pic shows they are as far away from driver as possible.

that thing is SICK!!!!

Love it!!!!! Unique and cool as hell!!!!

Gotta keep us updated when ou run it!!!

Way too cool! Run the exhaust out to the back of the topper then out the top!

The headers look like the 180* headers we used to run on stock cars in the 70's.
