Door weatherstrip install

I am going to install the new door weatherstrips on my Dart tomorrow. Should there be any trim adhesive used when putting them on?? The original weatherstrip did not have any adhesive, just the white clips. One set of online instructions said trim adhesive required. Another said, no adhesive needed???

i think i remember using it only on the ends. the clips are there to avoid using adhesive. i can't remember if the ends were screwed on or glued on.
