With New Years Eve upon us, I would like to share a personal experience with everyone about drinking and driving.

This past Friday, I was out for an after Christmas get-together with several friends. One drink led to several, and by the end of the evening, I was WELL over the legal limit. That's when I decided to do something I had never done before: I took a cab home. Lucky I did, because just up the road a bit was a sobriety checkpoint. The police saw it was a cab and waved it past. I arrived home without incident.

This was a huge relief and surprise because I had never driven a cab before. Hell, I can't even remember where I got the thing, and now that it is in my garage, I have no idea what I should do with it!

Just noticed I typed "Drining" instead of "Drinking" in the title. I musta 180 proof read that.

yes that is funny...... but then too, decades ago I was hit headon by a 80 mph drunk. I was pulling a gooseneck with tractor chained down with huge log chains. the tractor settled on top of it all. killed him, shattered my knee cap, cut the tendons into. I survived...
not trying to take the fun out of the joke cause its GOOD!

I woke up sitting on my dome light 15 years ago. cured me of drinking altogether. when you barrel roll a car doing 70 mph it gives you a hell of a wake up call about your behavior.

I think a member took a bus home a few years ago...still has it! My buddy got pulled over after a beer run, he was wasted. The officer locked him out and threw the keys in the trunk and told him to walk home as he just got a hot call. Dumb *** friend grabbed his hide-a-key, hopped back in and side swiped a parked car on his way home.

Lol! Here's the cab for your story.

Nah, I wouldn't steal a Crown Vic even if I was drunk. Actually only been drunk once in the last 20 years, at a wedding in 2002. I won't comment on 1994 though. Might be a lot of that year that's kinda fuzzy. Realized one morning as I was drinking a six pack for breakfast that I was headed down a bad path, quit cold turkey, and had less than ten drinks until that 2002 wedding. Nowdays I might have one or two if I'm out with friends, but that's where I stop. Cause after the third one, I probably won't stop.

I wouldn't touch a crown vic either but it does ad a bit to the whole what was I thinking aspect.
