How does the drip rail go on? I did a little digging and found Cosig’s trick for removing it. Does it really just pop onto the rail? Anyone have trouble if it’s painted too thick?

Also, if you were going to pick up these pieces of trim, who do you recommend buying them from? Seems lots of aftermarket companies selling them. Or for a driver quality hot rod, would you recommend used trim?

Thanks in advance

Yes, the drip rail just snaps on.
One issue is that after removing it, it may have "spread" a bit and doesn't snap back on quite as securely as it originally did. In this case, you need to carefully "recompress" the bends a little to get it to positively lock back on.
As far as used or repro trim, I'll always go for good used trim.
You know it fits, and as long as it isn't all beaten and twisted to snot, you probably wouldn't notice the difference. Plus you save outrageous prices on dubious quality repro parts that may or may not actually be in stock.

I suspect there is really only one manufacturer of these items. They are sold by a variety of resellers. Buy from the ones with the best pricing, shipping and service.
