Anybody out there buy from these guys? Planned on ordering a third member in 4:10 with the Detroit Trutrack posi unit. No cones, no clutches, just gears. Some GM guy told me it's a great street/strip posi unit.
Don't wanna order until I hear something from you guys.

I will only use Tru Tracs in my builds. A little more pricey... but they dont ever wear out or break, and they will never slip under power. They are the best limited slip IMO for the street or road racing. I get my stuff from Dr Diff... otherwise know as Cass Eslick. Google Dr Diff.

I never bought anything from DTS, but I called about parts for a stock unit. They were very helpful and not worried about selling parts. They seemed to be good guys.

The Detroit True Trac is the best all around unit

The True Trac has a lock up of 70% to 75%. This unit is for the driver who spends 70% on road and 30% off.

The next step up is the Detroit Soft Locker, this unit is also clutch free and uses no oil additives. While under power or a load the Detroit Soft Locker is a 100% lock up device. The Detroit Soft Locker has a unique working internal system that allows the unit to ratchet around corners. When you do suspend a tire and it is free-hanging off the ground, both tires will still rotate the same speed.

This unit fits the driver that spends half their time on-road and half their time off. While the unit does work nicely for daily driving, most agree it is the best off-road differential on the market.

I cut and paste that explanation lol, I have always used the Detroit locker in my stuff (drag/street car and 4x4) they are tough 8)

I did quite a bit research on the true-trac and asked some some people who were using them both on and off-road and the results were stellar. Everyone loves them. Eventually both my Jeep and Ramcharger will have them front and rear as well as my Duster in Dana 60. Another plus is that they use regular 80w-90 or 80w-140 with no additives.

The only caveat is that (I heard) under very hard launches on vehicles with slicks and over 500hp the bearing surfaces that the gears ride on can elongate over time. I even called Eaton about this and spoke with them. They said all out drag racing, get a Detroit locker but for a street/stripper, get the true-trac.

Megajolt, if you get one wheel in the air a touch of brakes is all that's needed with the true-trac. :)

Good info. Gonna order in about 15 minutes. Anybody got any idea what speedo gear for a 27 inch tire, 4;10 with a 4 spd?

Thanks but the only wheels I will have in the air are the fronts lol

I'll stick with the soft locker after having 38-40 inch tall tires and a 550+ HP and TQ was amazed how nothing would hurt it.Did really nice burn outs:toothy10:
