This should be obvious but right now I can’t tell.

The plastic badges on the doors need to come off to sand and paint the frames. I expected to simply have pegs and speed nuts on the back.

The window hardware blocks my sight of the back side.
Yes, I did consult a factory service manual. It does not cover this. I suspected that they may be pressed in but I hesitate to try to pry it off due to the risk of breaking it.

The emblem has two plastic pins on the back that push into the metal upper door frame that go into two barrel nuts. Just use a pry tool and gently pry them off.

I will try that and either thank you for the help or curse you if there are nuts on the back side that result in breakage!

Try to tap or hit the pegs from the back so you don't damage the front prying on it.

Should just be a couple of these on there

A light prying with a trim tool should do it, provided no one’s put anything different back there in the last 50+ years

Son of a *****….

Not your fault though. The car sat outside for many years so I suspect that corrosion built up on the backside.
Thanks!

Cant get a mirror in there to confirm??

I tried. I even had a bright light up in there and could not tell how they were held on. I have some metal badges from earlier cars that are held on with studs and speed nuts.
