Could that filter coolant? I always get a few rust turds out of the radiator when I pull the lower hose. Maybe between the heater core and pump?

Using a filter meant for oily stuff for watery stuff makes baby Jesus cry. If you want a filter to sequester the trash from your cooling system, use one like this. I put one on my '73 Dart. It worked well and was easy to maintain. I yoinked it before I sold the car. Still have it, don't have a use for it; if you wanna buy it, ping me.
