Holloween, valentines day, big promotions in stores to sell cards and candy. Seems like Easter this year is just an after thought to a lot of retailers. Or is it different in your neighborhood.

I swear, bunnies get no respect anymore. :D
Easter doesn't make the money the other ones do, simple as that.

I've seen many easter baskets at stores around here...

they barely have anything in them for the money that you pay...

There used to be a lady where I worked that made home made Easter baskets and would take orders. She made good ones with much more goodies than the store bought ones at a good price.

I try to stay away from the commercial side of holidays. Christmas and Easter hold special meaning to me because of my faith.

umm.. yea, this commercial, while still funny, is from 1994... talk about afterthought.. "yea, I guess we should put an ad on TV for Easter.. wanna run that old one again?" [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=731B20sSX1w"]1994 Cadbury Bunny Tryouts Commercial - YouTube[/ame]

I think the lack of commercialism of the Easter Holiday this year is actually a good sign.

I think it signals the reversal of Easter as a secular commercial Holiday back to being the religious Christian celebration that really is.

When commercial business can't capitalize on a Holiday, they back away quickly leaving it for the faithful to celebrate it as it should be.

When the Easter Bunny losses market share, Christ gets the flock back.

Not a bad thing.

yes, I too hate commercialisn of holidays. not that much $$ to be made peddlin crap baskets and candy eggs!???

fine for very small kids to do the Easter r abbit egg deal, but they need to have access to a faith and religion. faith is bigger than everything.......

Maybe I worded it wrong. I agree less commercialism is better. That's why I posted The question as to how it was in different areas.

Yeah.. Jesus doesn't get much respect anymore either.

When I was a little fella we would get new slacks, shirt, tie with a vest for Easter Sunday my grand parents would come pick me my brother and sister up in their 1960 Buick to go to Sunday school and Easter worship.
After church the adults always had a egg hunt and picnic for us kids if weather aloud. Great memories.

since today is a religious day, will make some comments, realizing that not every person agrees with me or share any of my befiefs. that's o k. this is America. freedom of speech, as long as it is not illegal!

to me, The Bible is at the very LEAST , a guidebook to living. a guide to what is considered right and wrong. good or bad. a roadmap to live a life that is not only beneficial, helpful, and rewarding to you yourself, but your family and people around you.

The Bible recognizes, we as humans make mistakes, even though we wish not, but gives us a solution for these mistakes in life.

I feel it is the duty of parents to take the time to teach their children these priciples of right and wrong, whether it be taking them to Sunday School, or in every day life. expose them to the teaching of Christ, let them make their choices in religion and the teachings of the Bible as they old enough to have their own beliefs of life. may your children grow up to be the adults you hope them to be.........

RESPECT! Is that even in the vocabulary any more it sure seems like it isn't.

It seems that respect has been lost somewhere over the years. Or is it just me that thinks this?

OH! By the way Happy Easter folks and may we all remember and respect what this day is about!

Tom
