I have an edelbrock 1407 (750 manual choke) and the accelerator pump was not working so I thought as long as I had it apart I might as well rebuild it. I followed the directions with no problems, (did not replace the jets or metering rods), put it back on the motor fired right up, but now it runs extremely rich and the a/f screws have no effect. I pulled the top back of and checked floats and needles and seats, no problems, checked for vacuum leaks they're none. Before I rebuilt it did not run rich at all and the a/f mixture screws worked fine. Any suggestions on what I should check?

when you say you checked he floats do you mean you checked the level ( proper adjustment) or just checked to see if they were stuck
I Checked the floats for proper adjustment and checked the needle and seats to make sure there wasn't anything that would cause them to stick. I'm going to check to make sure the metering rods are seated correctly and double check for vacuum leaks around the carb base.
All well. Now you have a great source of spare parts. Grab another one and get to it. Use the busted one for spare parts to modify for the good one and experiment.
Glad you see it that way. A silver lining. I have a few spare part carbs myself. Once I get to the point, I'll be whittling down parts and seeing what works and what doesn't. Gotta tinker some. Just to know.
