After fixing a ignition issue and intake leak, I need to re-adjust my 1406 tuning. I have all the basic adjustments made but, have one issue. During cruise mode I get a slight flat spot. Meaning any steady speed and then I slightly increase throttle (I mean very very light throttle). I get what feels like a lean condition. I don't think it is the idle circuit since I adjusted it a couple times.Once I push more into the power mode, it goes away. I can either rich the cruise mode up one step (24) (I started back at 1 stock). Or I can bring in power mode with a stiffer stage spring 7/8. Small cam and plenty of vacuum. Both seem to fix the issue....so my question is...does one have an advantage over the other. Performance, economy or drive-ability etc? What do ya think?

Thanks Craig

I would go up one step on main metering/cruise,rather than the power circuit. My .02.

I had the same problem with a 1407 carb. It seems with that vacuum you need stiffer step up springs, but unfortunately the stiffest supplied in the kit is 8". I´d go one step richer in the primaries and see how it reacts. Or try to put some shims under the step up springs to activate these earlier (best thing i think because you can keep the lean mixture during cruising, but i was not able to try this up til now, winter here....)

I noticed when i put a 1" open spacer on it this flat spot went away - you can try this, too.
