Engine Bay Paint Color.

No, I would not do it. Yes, it is your car, do what you want, but...... Unless you total it at some time, you are the care taker, not the owner. Yes, it can be redone. Having said that, I try not to go too far outside of the box.

This one might ruffle some feathers.

I'm doing a repaint on my car next winter, i want to ditch the satin black in favor of high gloss black, im also ditching all the black powercoated trim/bumpers and replacing all with shiny chrome/stainless.

Which brings me yo the engine bay....I HATE black engine bays....you can't see **** when your working on it, it always looks dirty. i KNOW mopar always painted the engine bays body color....but damnit.

I'm considering doing my engine bay in mopar purple, as well as having my suspension parts and such powdercoated to match.

Pitchforks and torches? Love it? Hate it? Should i reconsider...

Black car = black underwood ok in my book. Purple not so much.

Better yet as I can't afford or want a show car fk it.

I prefer the hillbilly keep 'em guessing. Way back when the boys racing for money wanted to peek to make sure you weren't plumbed for nitrous. I seriously looked at hidden in the intake and man that was a pipe dream due to cost.

Currently would hate to let aficionados have a look for fear of a dumb argument and would just let 'em guess WTF.

Once the gears get changed out and converter added it should be a bit of a wake up call to some purist or Ford/Chevy fk.

I agree, it's your car do as you wish, but if or when you sell it, that person may have a different thought. I hate to see a Mopar with a black engine bay, it reminds me of a Chevy or Ford.
The day i sell it will be the day Liberals ban Gas vehicles or the day i die. Whichever comes first. But yeah i think ive been convinced to leave it be.

Nitro yellow green PF2. If you like great contrast. There are tooooo many gray, black, white silver cars on the road today. What ever happened to real colors?

MOPAR had a fine idea in painting the engine compartment the color of the car. But that does not mean it has to be. I like my black engine bay on my yellow Duster. And it is not hard to keep clean.

I ended up painting the car black because the engine bay was black when i got it. everyone said the car is supposed to be the same color.

I have yet to wash it. Still looks good to me.

I think Silver, from the 1970 color chart may be a nice complimentary color in the engine bay. Just a thought.

Here is the 64 I had I removed the engine and painted under hoodView attachment 1716366756
Beautiful !

I'll never get there, I own a few guns I have yet to shoot for over 30 years. Sadly have probably bought untold more and not shot. There's always tomorrow lol.

The Mopar parts, collectibles, guns, vehicles and hoard will be the heirs **** to sort out. That's going to be a Party lmao.

Any good body men will tell you the engine bay matches the body color but with 50year old cars there are no rules mine was black primer for 30 years only because it was easy to do, and I had no idea what color the car would end up. After finally having the right guy and money it is now mango tango copper #3 and it is mesmerizing to look at. My hood is high gloss black with a bunch of clear coats on it so it really shines I do have a black truck and i have washed it twice in the same day it is impossible to keep clean my buddy has a plum crazy Cuda and it is very cool... the black does look good on that car and is probably a lot less expensive this paint was $850 per gallon.
