I painted both my small blocks with long model brushes from the dollar store.

They worked really good and i didn't get a bunch of over spray on everything like i always did.
I did about three coats and it looked slightly dull, but once the engine was fired up and it warmed up to temp, the paint changed to a glossy more even finish.
I used a large plastic coffee lid as a paint tray.
I just spayed the paint can really close to the lid and filled the lid with just enough paint to work with each time.
It was nice to be able to paint around and near the spark plugs with the headers still bolted to the engine.

What do you think of the results.

Awesome results there dude. I painted a 350 under the hood of a El Camino with brushes years ago. It didn't turn out that pretty though.
I have since leaned to spray the paint into the can top with a straw nozzle and through piece of sponge. Less paint loss or mess.
