Do all exhaust manifold bolts need thread sealant on them? I did rear only and have coolant leaking. Service manual indicates all bolts need sealant. What is the best sealant,? I used Permatex ultra copper(on rear bolt only).

I use teflon thread sealant. It works but may not be high temp enough. It's a good idea to put some sealer on all the exhaust bolts/studs. I think only the 4 outside ones go into water though.

Front and rear bolts on each side go into the water jackets. A total of four. These four are to be studs, not bolts.
The sealer needs to be hi-temp. I used red silicone for 50 years. Now they sell hi-temp Permatex thread sealer.
Do it correct cause it gets messy redoing them things.

sorry guys,i always forget the important stuff. It is a 72 318 in a dart w/headers. It is in the draining process now. Thanks to all Joe

Only the front and rear bolt on each side has water behind them. The rest are blind and don't need anything.
