I'm getting ready to replace an exhaust manifold and add gaskets to both..
Is there a "trick" or method you use to eliminate the coolant coming out of the bolt passages, or just drain from radiator first..?

Thanks..!

Best start with the wire brush and GOOD penetrant on the nuts and studs at each end. They are 5/16" and that is wimpy small once some rust gets started, then the stud breaks very easily.

After wire brush and soaking overnight I like to heat them a dull orange with an oxyacetylene torch let them cool a few minutes, and then put the socket on them. If they are binding put some more penetrant on them.

Broken studs are a nightmare with engine in the car.

I bought OEM replacement bolts / studs.. Fortunately the current ones installed are in great condition and have been in and out recently.

Just be sure to seal them good. I use Permatex high heat thread sealer. Make sure that the hole is dry. Actually, if they are installed properly, the studs should not come out with nut removal.

Where at in St Peter's do you live. I grew up there, and lived in the area most my life.
Mexico and Mueege.. In Cave Springs.
I think we've talked before.. didn't you live off Mexico, near S. Church..?
