Just got done watching a drama documentary about Extortion 17, the deadliest loss of American Special Ops lives in the history of the Navy Seals. 30+ spec ops soldiers killed in a chopper shoot down back in August 2011. Members were from Seal team 6, the team that got Bin Laden in May 2011.

film raises the awareness about what was a very flawed, albeit short mission. It does raise questions about some of the secrecy surrounding the mission and the shoot down. Basically, it’s a similar story to Blackhawk Down and the Battle of Mogadishu back in 1993.

anyway, I found it worth the 20 bucks. Mainly because America needs to know the names of these valiant heroes.

There are even theories that have been floated that Extortion 17 was set up to be shot down because there were those in the Obama regime at the time that wanted to silence some members of Seal Team 6 who were disputing Obama's narrative on Bin Laden. I've seen some compelling arguments that support this theory. True or not, we'll never know.

What I do know based upon my own military service experience is that this mission was poorly conceived and planned from the get go. It was a disaster waiting to happen and it did. Makes me very angry that 30+ lives were wasted on some higher up's fubar idea.

fly a chopper low and over the same route multiple times and some rag head with an RPG is gonna get lucky once. Disgusting US rules of engagement since Korea.

I was the Casket Team Leader for that mass burial in Arlington. I carried a casket of co-mingled remains from the wreckage with a representative from each branch of service who lost a life during the mission. Very surreal experience to organize and perform. The row of open graves stretched out seemed like it went on forever. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.

Yep. I lean more towards an insider attack. Why the hell were there 8 Afghanies, non of which were translators, on board with the Seals to begin with is the question I’d like to hear
